We have recently had a very special visit to our high school. Two IES Miguel de Molinos former students, Esther Briz and Izán Sanz, came to tell us about their experience studying abroad.
Izán Sanz recently obtained a degree in Physics at the University of Birmingham. He reminded us that it was thanks to the academic background Esther and he built at our high school that they were able to successfully develop their studies in prestigious universities where Nobel prize winners and Olympic sports champions started their careers.
Esther Briz is herself a champion. She had won several competitions as a rowing sportsperson before embarking on her American adventure at Stanford University, California, where she is a senior in Management and Science Engineering at the same time as going on with her sports career. At the moment she is quite successful in both fields, and her recent Gold Medal at last summer World Coastal Rowing Championships is just an example of a promising future.
We were really charmed by their appreciative words to our school and to the British Council-MEFP integrated curriculum studies they benefited from, which surely allowed them to acquire an international dimension.
They gave an inspiring talk to our Bachillerato students, and encouraged them to never give up, stressing on the fact that any of them could follow suit and make that necessary extra effort into finding their way to a future further education in an English-speaking country.
